Mr Holland's Trip To
Australia
Labour Ministers And Price Controls
(P.A.) Wellington, March 18. He was glad the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, was going to Australia to study controls—import control, price control and the exchange rate, said the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, last night. "That is good news. I hope we will get some benefit from his study when he returns. He will then be able to tell us the difference between the two countries, both of which are in the charge of Labour Governments." "I am sure that most New Zealanders will wish Mr Holland well i'n his visit to Australia in search of a policy for the National party," said the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Nordmeyer. "Many people in this country will welcome his investigation into price levels in Australia, particularly of those commodities which have risen sharply since the Federal Government relinquished price control. "Remembering vividly Mr Holland's opposition to price control and stabilisation in New Zealand, our people will welome any real change of heart on the part of the Leader of the Opposition which will demonstrate the sincerity of his desire to have prices lowered here. "If his trip to Australia convinces him that prices in New Zealand can be reduced, narticularly by a lowering of profits, his visit will have been well worth while," he added.
