Election Of Officers At Tauriko

(Times Correspondent) The vice-president. Mrs W. Morris, presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Tauriko branch of the Women's Institute, held in the Tauriko Hall. The treasurer, Mrs B. Watson, presented a very satisfactory financial statement -and report. , The committee's comprehensive report on the year's activities was read by Mrs L. Allan. Mesdames W. Morris and N. F. Skelton were elected to attend the group council meeting, to be held in Tauranga in April, while Mesdames G. Kiddie and J. R. Geraghty were elected to attend the group committee in May. Mrs Pemberton of Gate Pa gave an interesting talk on the early historv of the Institute movement in New Zealand since 1921. when the first branch was formed in Hawke's Bay. She also answered a number of questions and spoke on her, trip to Waikaremoana Lake. Shoulder sprays were presented to Mesdames Pemberton and Morris by Mrs Kiddie. A bouquet was sent to the president, who is at present in hospital. The competitions were judged by Mesdames Pemberton and Bray and resulted as follows: Large bloom, Mrs G. Kiddie 1, Mrs W. Morris 2; small bloom, Mrs D. McGregor 1, Mrs J. L. Geraghty 2; best vegetable, Mrs Geraghty 1, Mrs McGregor 2; apple shortcake, Mrs G. Kiddie 1, Mrs D, McGregor 2. It was decided to hold at the next meeting, competitions for a cellophane hat and for a butterless sponge and to enter the winning articles in the April group meeting for inter-Institute competition. The following officers were elected-. President, Mrs N. F. Skelton; vice-Dresident, Mrs W. Morri's; secretary. Mrs L. Allan; treasurer, Mrs B. Watson; committee, Mesdames D. McGregor, D. Hulton and M. Mcintosh; competition steward, Mrs D. Hulton; press correspondent, Mrs McGregor. A dainty supper was served by the hostesses. Mrs J. L. Geraghty and Miss D. Morris.
