Clothes Rationing Ends Today
Cheers In House Of Commons
Controls To Be Retained
For Export
London, March 14
Clothes rationing in the United Kingdom ends tomorrow. There were cheers in the House of Commons when this was announced by the President rf the Board of Trade, Mr Harold Wilson.
The decision, he said, would not invo ve increasing supplies for the home market at the expense of exports. The necessary controls would be retained to ensure the full export front.
Clothes rationing was introduced in June, 1941. There have been easing of restrictions since the war ended. Last July all footwear came off coupons, and about a month ago so did all woven woollen cloth, including silks and overcoats.
