TE PUNA SEWING BEE PICNIC FUNCTION AT OTTJMOETAI BEACH A very enjoyable day was spent at the Otumoetai Beach last week when' the Te Puna Sewing Bee held its annual picnic. The following were results of races: Tiny tots, J. Parker 1, Kerry Smith 2; girls 4 to 6 years, Janice Thomas 1, Alison Snodgrass 2; boys 4 to 6 years, Ken Smith 1, Russell Gear 2; girls 7 to 9 years, Yvonne Parker 1, Ray win Thomas 2; boys 7 to 9 years, Gary Watkins 1, Rodger Snodgrass 2; girls 10 to 12 years Pat Co veil 1, Edith Snodgrass 2; boys 10 to 12 years, Maxwell Watkins 1. Children's egg and spoon race: Beverley Thomas and Raywin Thomas equal 1; sack race, Pat Covell 1; chain stepping, Neil Mander; sand castle, Arnold Snodgrass 1, Janice Thomas 2; sand castle, Max Watkins 1, B. Three-legged race, Mr and Mrs Sm'th 1, Mr and Mrs Snodgrass 2. of 1949 The Te Puna Sewing Bee held its first" meeting for 1949 at Mrs Chapman's residence last week. The month's competition, a print apron, was won by Mrs Heard. CARD PARTY AT TAURIKO (Times Correspondent) There was a good attendance at the last weekly card tournament held in the Tauri'ko Hall, when progressive 500 was played. Mr and Mrs K. Rasmussen were host and hostess. Prizes were won as follows: Mrs D. McGregor. Mr G. A. Merriman and Mr H. Mills equal 1; travelling prizes, Messrs H. Mills and S. J. Hills; consolation nrizes, Messrs D. McGregor, V. Johns and C. Geraghty. ' SHOES CAN TALK Neglected, unpolished shoes are a poor advertisement for the wearer. On the other hand clean, polished shoes that have had their daily dose of "Nugget" not only convey a favourable impression but impart a feeling of confidence and satisfaction. There is no shoe polish made better than "Nugget" and there is certainly no better shoe pol.'sh made. "Nugget" colours include Black, Dark Brown, Military Tan, and Blue
