HOLIDAY FLYING IN TAURANGA
PREPARATION OF AIRCRAFT
Overhaul Of Club’s Planes
Workshop Reduces Cost Of Check-Ups
With the experience of a better winter with regard to maintenance worries, and now that the workshop is in full operation, it is expected that the Tauranga Aero Club’s fleet will be fully prepared for the busy holiday period. The Waco has just been overhauled, and is a welcome addition to the fleet. Last year, it did not fly until February because of the shortage of spares for the engine. Tiger Moths A.J.U. and A.J.T. have undergone overhauls, and Tiger Moth A.L.M. has just completed a certificate of airworthiness overhaul. An indication of the scope of these check-ups is given when it is considered that Tiger Moth A.L.M., has been fitted with a new motor, a new fuselage and several components have been renewed. in addition to the removal of all paint, redoping and the rebuilding of one wing. The cost of such an overhaul would be in the vicinity of £BOO. but this outlay is reduced materially by the operation of the club’s own workshop.
