ADVERSE BALANCE FALLS

BRITAIN’S RECORD EXPORTS CHEERING FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER London, Dec. 21. United Kingdom exports last month reached the record total of £147,000,000, that is £7,000,000 higher than in October, and £1,500,00 above the previous highest value in July. The increase more than offsets the rise in the value of imports, with the result that Britain’s adverse trade balance for the month falls to £28,750,000, the lowest for over two years. The volume of last month’s exports was about half as much again as the average in 1939. Imports at £181,000,000 constitute record figures for food and tobacco. Britain imported less manufactured goods.
