FOSTER MOTHER CHARGED
MURDER OF CHILD ALLEGED
'(P.A.) ' Masterton, Nov. 15. Charged with the murder of Joseph Frederick Yee Kim, an 18-months-eld Chinese - Maori child, Peggy Maaka, alias Phyllis Yec Kim, a Maori, aged 33, and foster mother of the child, was remanded to appear at the Magistrate's Court, Wellington, on Tuesday, November 23, when she appeared in the Masterton Magistrate's Court this morning. The child disappeared from his cot at the home of nis parents at Te Ore Ore, about two miles from Masterton, on Wednesday night, and his body was found in the Ruamahunga River yesterday afternoon by a police party. Suspicion of kidnapping was aroused, as the child could not walk and his coat was missing.
