GREECE APPEALS TO HER FRIENDS
INTERNMENT OF REBELS
Albania Reminded Of
Obligations
Action By Big Powers

London, Aug. 23
A senior British officer who has just returned to Athens from the Mount Grammes region in Northern Greece has said that a substantial force of the rebels managed to withdraw into Albania in good order after the Greek Government victory, and might be able to cross the frontier again somewhere else very soon.
A Balkans correspondent says that in these circumstances the diplomatic aspects of the position become of great importance. The Greek Government has received no reply to its demand that Albania should intern the escaped rebels, so it has now informed friendly Governments that it treats the matter as extremely urgent, and cannot wait for next month’s United Nations Assembly. The corresoondent says that the Greek view is that the big powers should firmly remind Albania of her obligations under international law and that some kind of United Nations control should be set up on the frontier.
