AUSTRALIAN TYPIST TO MARRY IN U.S.A.

An Australian typist ordered back from Japan has been given permission to go to America to marry an Australian doctor. She is Miss Barnice Eklund, member cf one of Queensland's best-known families, who is en route from Tckio to Seattle.

Miss Eklund worked for the United States forces in Japan and was on the list cf Australians officially recalled. 'While in-Japan Miss Eklund became engaged to Dr John Nye, a young medical officer attached to 8.C.0.F., and son cf a leading Brisbane specialist. Dr Nye left Japan for the United States last year for post-graduate studies, and they planned to meet there next June to marry. Canberra immigration officials said Miss Eklund was i: one of a few of the girls who had their passports extended." This allowed her to go straight to the United States instead of returning to Australia.
