DISAPPEARING BEACHES

Sir, —After reading in the Bay of Plenty Times that improvements to the waterfront have been under discussion and that the proposed sound shell has been turned down, I would like to suggest that a few leads of sand and shell should ba brought over from the Mount and nut down on what is of the beach at low water. There are certain Batches that would look very different if this were done. When I came here more than 20 years ago the Tauranga beach looked very beautiful but, of course, the best part of Tauranga, is now under the railway lines.—l am, etc., E. C. W.
