SOUTH AFRICAN COAL

TRIAL SHIPMENT TO DOMINION

(P.A.) Wellington, April 2G. A trial shipment of 3000 tons of South African coal is to arrive at Wellington in the Clarepark on May 21. The coal is to be used by the railways and it is understood that if it proves satisfactory, further large quantities will be ordered. This will be the first South African coal to be received by New Zealand since 1921,’when 5000 tons were brought. The only other shipment was 5000 tons in 1914.
