A further death from infantile paralysis has occurred in the Waikato Hospital, and eight other positive cases have been reported iroin various parts of the North Island. The fatal case, the filth in South Auckland, was' a woman aged 31 from Otordhanga, who was admitted to hospital on Friday. The Auckland position improved yesterday, no new cases being reported and three suspects being declared negative. Four positive cases and a suspsc., have been reported in the South Auckland health district. The positive cases are a boy aged three from Masroa, who was admitted to the Waikato Hospital as a suspect on Friday, a woman aged 28 from Matapuna, who was admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital as a positive case on Saturday and was _ transferred to the Waikato Hospital on Sunday, a boy aged five from Tarinsamotu and a boy aged ten from 'Manunui. These two boys were admitted as positive cases to the Taumarunui Hospital on Saturday and Sunday. The new suspect in the area is a ten-year-old girl frem Waharoa, who is in the Wgikato Hospital. , Two of three suspects admitted to the Wairoa Hospital have been proved positive cases. They are two women. One has been placed in an iron lung. It is stated that the Health Department does not intend closing schools in the district in the meantime. A three-year-old girl reported as a positive case of infantile paralysis within the Hastings borough is the first notification there for more than t\vo weeks. The child earlier had diphtheria, having returned to her homo .only three weeks ago. • A further positive case at Napier is a boy aged six, admitted to hospital on Saturday as a suspect. This brings the number of cases in the Hastings-Napier district since the outbreak began to 15. The suspect' cases diagnosed as negative in the Central Auckland health district yesterday were a child admitted from Orakei on Sunday, an adult from Onehunga, also admitted to the Auckland Hospital yesterday, and a young child from Point Chevalier, reported last Tuesday. There were 43 positive cases in the Auckland Hospital last night and three suspects. .
