Mushroom Season Over Weather conditions at Whakamarama prolonged, the mushroom season there longer than usual, although the growth is now almost over. "'I was a Scout once,' said the official. 'What I learned there has helped me in every step of life.' Those were the best words of welcome I have ever had," said Lady Baden-Powell. Brass Band Concert The Tauranga Municipal Band, under the conductorship of Mr G. Mockler, gave a concert at the Tauranga Public Hospital on Sunday. The programme included: National Anthem, Old Earth (hymn), Indepedentia (march), Windermere (overture), Goeze (march), Queen of Emeralds (wait?), Bless 'This House (cornet solo, N. Jones), Postman's Parade (march), With Sword and Lance (march), God Defend New Zealand. Tribute To Scouting "The past two decades have seen evil men set up as gods by. sheer force, but the name which our guest today bears is enshrined in millions of hearts through a simple trusting affection, and admiration for the ideals for which the late Lord Baden-Powell was responsible," said the Mayor of Wellington (Mr W. Appleton) at a civic reception to Lady Baden-Powell. Great Britain had made many outstanding contributions, to the world in general, and among those there could have been none greater where the interests of youth were concerned than the Scouting and Guiding movements, he said.
