WORLD TITLE BOUT FOR JONES
OFFER MADE IN CABLEGRAM
(P.A.) Auckland, today. A southern paper reports that Willie Jones, the American boxer fought two bouts against the New Zealander Bos Murphy last year has been offered a world title match against Ray Robinson, the present welter-weight champion. The offer came in a cablegram from Jones’ manager, Mr G. White. Jones has replied asking that the contract be sent to New Zealand by air mail for signature. The proposal is that the bout should be staged at Los Angeles.
