The Tauranga teams were Rainster, McKenzie's and Burgess, while the Tauranga "midget ' team opened the fixture with a marching display. This team, which is believed to be the only one of its kind in the Auckland province, was given such an ovation that the performance was repeated. The midget team successfully gamed third place for the bestdressed side. The other Tauranga teams competed in a street march and dress pisplay only, but they were not pla- ed. They did not compete m the main event on the ground, the reason being that they received details of the course—a difficult one of 24 movements—too late. The display covered all forms oi military marching. Ngongotaha won the contests with Pirates (Rotorua) second The Tauranga Marching teams will be seen in action again in the oay of Plenty marching championships at Te Puke on Saturday December 13.
