WITHDRAWAL FROM PALESTINE
'OFFICIAL JEWISH COMMENT British Policy Criticised Establishment of Separate State Needed • London, Sept. 28. The chairman of the Jewish Agency, Mr David Ben-Gurion, has issued a statement in .Jerusalem giving what is described as a reserved welcome to the British
Government’s announcement of its intention to withdraw from Palestine.
At the same time he made the charge that British policy was largely responsible for tire difficulty in bringing about an understanding between Arabs and Jews. Mr Ben-Gurion said it was more clear than ever that there could be no settlement and Palestine become really independent unless a Jewish State was established.
Two British transports have arrived at Cyprus with 432 Jews who were intercepted yesterday as they approached the Palestine coast in an illegal immigrant ship. Several hundred Jews today marched through London to Hyde Park to protest against the British Government action in sending illegal immigrants to Germany. The procession included representatives of Zionist organisations in South Africa, the United States and Palestine.
