CLOSER LIAISON WITH NAVY

FUTURE OF SEA CADET CORPS

(P.A.) Auckland, Sept. 23. The Sea Cadet Corps will shortly come under the control of the new-ly-formed Dominion council of the New Zealand Navy League and .the council will work in close co-opera-tion with the Naval Board with a view to having the corps incorporated in the Royal New Zealand Navy. This information was given to New Zealand unit commanders at a conference which was held in Wellington and at which a representative of the Naval Board was present. Application has been made to have the name of the corps changed to ‘‘Royal New Zealand _ Cadet Corps.” Approval will require the consent, of the King. The Naval Board has also been approached for permission to hold thd annual training course in H.M.N.Z.S. Tamaki. Arrangements arc also being made to hold a short course at Dunedin on the cadet training ship Waireka.
