THIRTEEN-POINT RUGBY WIN FOR N.Z. MAORIS

Timaru, Sept. 22 Outpacing, outhooking and bewildering the opposition the New Zealand Maori team scored in the first seven minutes against South Canterbury today and maintained the pressure to win by 16 points to 3. A crowd of more than 5000 witnessed the match. The brilliance of the halfback, J. Goldsmith, and first five-eighths, I. Proctor, who were given every assistance from a burly pa 9 k of forwards, enabled the Maoris to gum a 12—0 lead at half-time. Two tries were scored by J. Marriner who gave' a grand exhibition in the forwards, while Goldsmith also scored and McCarthy kicked a Penalty goal. In the second spell Piattley kicked a penalty goal for South Canterbury and Proctor potted goal for the Maoris.
