MATCHES AMONG PRIMARY SCHOOLS

HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN PRESENT ;

A successful annual tournament was held on the Cliff Road, courts by the Tauranga Primary Schools' Basketball Association. on Wednesday with competing teams from places as far distant as Paengaroa. About 500 children were, present. The games, organised by Mr K. Fricker and teachers, displayed a high standard, and one teacher expressed the. opinion that; a general raising of the standard in iplay of the senior teams can be expected in future years. ;

St. Mary's Convent \ defeated Matakana to win the senior section; Te Puna won the interniediate series when they beat Tauranga E; and Tauranga H beat Tauranga I to win in the juniors.
