ACCOMMODATION FOR IMMIGRANTS

TWO SHIPS FOR DOMINION

London, May 20

'The Ministry of Transport has agreed to release the Mataroa and Tamaroa to the Shaw Savill line. Part of the accommodation on each ship will be for immigrants. The vessels are expected to go to the shipyards in September for refitting and it is hoped that they will be completed by January.’ The Ministry is guaranteeing priority - for labour and materials in order that the work may be expedited. It is planned that each ship will have accommodation for 400 passengers and that 250 berths will be available for immigrants, sponsored industrial key workers, holders of bursaries returning after studying, and others.
