RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCIDENT
Sir, —Yesterday we witnessed a motor collision between a car leaving the road which passes the entrance to the hospital and a car travelling down the main road to the itown. From our observation of the situation it appears clear that the police will feel obliged to prosecute the unfortunate driver of the car which was leaving the hospital. 'Yet the driver of this car Avas most careful and had no opportunity whatever of avoiding the collision.
The real and proximate cause of the accident was the action of the Borough Council in allowing a motor bus to be parked in front of a store in such a position as to obscure all vision to the right. A further obstacle is a beauitiful.tree also on the right of the driver of the car mentioned. Has the Borough Council ever considered the serious situation in which it places the drivers of vehicles leaving the hospital by permitting this parking of buses and also by leaving trees in the position indicated? Perhaps if the police would take action against the real culprits in the present case, viz., the Borough Council, some consideration might be given to it.—We are, etc.,
"TWO- MOTORISTS."
