The Maori programme at the toanga regatta on Boxing Day was srried out with viiji and gusto, and atertained. the large attendance surmnding the ring on the Railway liarf. Special praise must be given, | the Hairini and Wairoa parties. The beautiful rhythm in the poi tees-and action songs of these lams of young Maori, girls received pat, applause from the large audience.; V-

The Hairini team comprised ten Mil' girls beautifully attired in Maori regalia under the leadership t’Mr Sid Tuki Kawa Kawa in warpaint and taiaha complete.

The Wairoa party under tho !iad§Mip of Mrs Dean Reweti* and comprised 12 girls and nine boys, fte feature -of this ©vent was tho Ma Swing Stars, Messrs Brown Brothers cf Wairoa, who with their electric steel guitars created added tntertainment. - Three tiny tots’ ‘earns were too .nervous to compete. The hangi (Maori feast), was a success under the supervision of Mr p' Rahip'ere, of Judea.

Oliver) thanked the Maori People for their wholehearted ' suprtt of the regatta.
