EASING TENSION IN PALESTINE
DISCUSSIONS IN LONDON Jewish Agency Members To Visit Colonial Office Clash Near Haifa Reported London, Oct. 7. Representatives of the Jewish Agency are to call at the Colonial Office in London to-morrow to discuss what can be done to ease tension in Palestine. A London diplomatic correspondent says it is hoped the meeting will also clear the way for the agency to accept the invitation to take part in the Palestine conference when it resumes in London in December. In North Palestine at a Jewish settlement near Haifa there was a clash to-day between Jews and Arabs over a land boundary dispute. Ten Jews and two Arabs were injured. . At dawn to-day British troops and Palestine ipolice cordoned off the Jewish slum quarter of Jerusalem and began a search for the gunmen who last night fired from a car, killing a British airman and injuring another. A British military court in Jerusalem has sentenced two Jewish terrorists to 15 years' imprisonment for possessing firearms. They were identified as guards who kept watch over the British officers who were kidnapped in Tel Aviv last June. Captain Wharburton, one of the three British officers who were kid-, napped in Tel Aviv last June, identified the men as guards who kept watch over him and his fellow prisoners during their 16 days' captivity. Both the accused refused to answer the charges.
