TAURIKO NOTES

SOCLIL AND DANCE HELD

ENJOYABLE EVENING A social and dance organised by the women of the Tauriko branch of the National Party was held in the Settlers' Hall recently. There was a pleasing attendance, visitors being present from Kaimai and Pye's Pa, including Mr Mills, the organiser of the National Party for this electorate. Until 10 p.m., a very interesting movie picture programme was presented by Mr F. T. Briggs, of Tauranga. Several reels of travel pictures, showing the highlights of his tour in the east, with scenes of every port of call en route from Wellington to Java, including Singapore, and back to Auckland .proved most enlightening, as also were the films taken locally. At the close, Mr Briggs was thanked . by Mr C. C. Wade for his generosity in going out to Tauriko and providing - such an interesting two hours of entertainment. An enjoyable supper was served by the committee and assistants. Dancing to music iplayed by local women and Mr D. Coubrough, of Lower, Kaimai, occupied the remainder of the evening, with Mr C. C. Wade as master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr* and Mrs G. Kiddie. A competition held during the evening and organised iby Mrs Coubrough and Miss B. Jensen (the prize being a dinner kindly donated by the local women, was won by Mrs P. H. Jensen, of Omanawa. A most successful evening was concluded with the playing of the National Anthem. Personal Mrs J. Patterson and family, of Mount Maunganui, recently spent a holiday with her sister Mrs W. Mulgrew, of Belk Road. Mr L. Roberts has left , the district to take over a business at Te Puke. Tauriko residents extend a sincere welcome to Mr and Mrs Watson and family who have recently taken up i fanning in the district. '
