Mount Ferry Service As from to-morrow, the winter timetable for ferry boats operating between Tauranga and Mount Maunganui wiil come into force.. Harvey, manager of the Tauranga Dairy Factory, at a meeting of the Tauranga Young Farmers’ Club in the Cate Fa ball on Tuesday next. Any farmers interested are invited to attend the meeting. Late Roses Despite the lateness of the,season, at least one resident of the district has a fine display of roses, the horticulturist being Mrs K. Ingle, of Courtenay Hoad. Yesterday three tine blooms, two pink and one yellow variety, picked from her display, were shown to a representative of the Times. A new departure on this occasion was a street stall, and selling by wives of exservicemen. Manure For Tauranga The Northern Steamship Co-. Ltd., had chartered the M.V. Rosalie from the New Zealand. Government and it is expected that she will leave Auckland for Tauranga on Monday next with a full load of manure for this district. The vessel is 114 feet long and is diesel powered. She was built in Auckland for the American -authorities for use in the war against Japan, which ceased before she was launched. The Rosalie will carry 250 tons and will run to Tauranga with manure as required. Debating Contest An interesting debating contest was held at Paengaroa recently when in the second round of the Western Bay of Plenty Young Farmers’ Clubs’ inter-club debates, the senior teams of Paengaroa and Welcome (Bay met. The subject was “That tire Y.F.C. Movement is devoting too much of its time to Social and Sporting Activities.” Paengaroa took the affirmative and Welcome Bay the negative. The judge was Mr Cordon Spratt. the chairman Mr E. Pinker, and the timekeeper Mr A. G. Talbot. The teams were evenly matched and the result was a win for Paengaroa with 290 points to 286.
