EXECUTIVE MEETING
ORGANISATION OF SEASON
A meeting of the- executive pf the Tauranga Basketball Association was held recently, when the season’s organisation was discussed.
The following committees were appointed: Management and Dominion Tournament committee, Mrs C. W. Johnson, Mrs S. A. Woods and Miss Ada Naylor; grounds committee, Mr L. J. Ibbotson (convenor), Mr J. Smyth and Mr Spitz; grading committee, Mrs Johnson and Miss A. Naylor; club captain, Miss Norma Ellis: social committee delegate, Mrs C. C. Southey; college delegate, Miss P- Williams. The secretary was authorised to make preliminary arrangements for the King’s Birthday tournament and to confirm reservations for the Rotorua tournament.
It was decided that postponement of fixtures be made at the. grounds before the commencement of play. Mrs S. A. Woods reported thgt the following hookings for association dances were available; Kalmans Hall. May IS. June o, June. 20; Town Hall, July 17, and September 25. These were confirmed and it was decided tq make every effort to have the Town Hall made available for the Dominiqn Tournament presentation of trophies on August 31. Provided that teams could he graded satisfactorily it was recommended that the championship rounds Commence on May 11 cr 18. Play will be in four grades senioi, senior reserve, intermediate and junior. v Representative practice and training will commence immediately. The billeting qommittee submitted a report on reservations available in Tauranga and Mount Maunganni and a draft circular was approved to be sent to all associations.
’ REFEREES’ MEETING
BADGES TO RE AWARDED I
At. a meeting of the Tauranga Referees’ Association held after the
opening of play Mrs Denniston was appointed to pet as delegate to the association executive.
It was decided that Tauranga referee badges he awarded to all qualified by passing the local test in rules and satisfactorily refereed at least four local matches.
The secretary was authorised to apply to the N.Z.R A. for practical examinations to be arranged for Misses P. Williams, B. Graham and Mary Harrison. Entries for local theoretical examination tq he held on May 29 weie received from feur le Puke and five Tauranga members. It was decided that a stricter watch ho. kept that no jewellery or watches be _worn during games and that ridged balls he not used fen championship games.
