EU R OPEAN COUNTRIES OVERCROWDED
O'tawa Feb. El
The Minister of Agriculture, Mr J. G. Gardiner, who returned after investigating Gte European food crisis, addressing the Em pi r 5 Service Club luncheon, said he was convinced the world had not yet taken any decided action in establishing peace. He said he had reached this conclusion alter listening to European people who wished to come to Canada.
Pointing out that every European country is overcrowded, Mr Gardiner said every policy discussed in Europe had as its objective feeding the people where they were and forcing them to remain docile, even when they were starving.
‘ Few countries are inviting them to come where the food is, 1 ’ he said. Mr Gardiner said that if outside markets were made available by lowered tarifts, Canadian industry could compete with anyone. He declared that much of Europe's industry, would migrate to Canada, and a healthy distribution of the population would follow.
