County Council Appointment Mr H. B. Capamagian has been appointed to represent the Katikati Riding on the Tauranga County Council in succession to Mr C. Hume who resigned his position as chairman and member owing to ill health. Mr Capamagian attended his first council meeting yesterday. Air Ami Promotions Two young men from Tauranga, who are serving with the Fleet Air Arm, have been successful in gaining promotion. They are SubLieutenant A. Taylor, who is now a lieutenant and A. Renshaw, who has been promoted to the rank of sublieutenant. Air-Force Week The Tauranga Air-Force Station will he open to the public on Saturday, September 23, from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Weather permitting this will be a normal flying day. Transport will be provided from the Aerodrome Wharf to the station. Ferries leave Tauranga at 1.15 p.m. 2 p.m., 2.30 p.m., departing from the aerodrome wharf at 3.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Larger Return The addition of a surcharge of 10 per cent, of the shares of milkers on quarter and third shares is the main provision of the agreement reached at the recent Wellington conference between the New Zealand Farmers’ Union and the New Zealand Workers’ Union. Details of the agreement were made known by Mr Lark, M.L.C.. branch secretary of the Workers’ Union, when he addressed over 250 sharemilkers from all parts of the Waikato at Movrinsville on Thursday night. Patriotic Shop On Friday of last week the Patriotic Shop was in charge of the Golf Club when the sum of £129 Is 3d was taken. Competition winners were: Dinner, G. Parkes; fowl. Mr Freemantle; groceries. Mrs Bartlett: engraving. Mrs Kirkby 1, G. Bloor 2; cockrel, Miss Wishart; fruit cake. Plans Already Made On liberation from German prison camps, New Zealand prisoners of war will be accommodated in camps while they are waiting in England for passage to the Dominion, states a report of the National Patriotic Fund Board. Arrangements have been made for extra foodstuffs and sports gear to be supplied to the men. The initial expenditure will be at least £20.000.
