FLYING CROSS WINNER

TAURANGA AIRMAN (P.A.) Wellington, June 9. The Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded to a Tauranga fighter pilot, Flying-Officer Alan McGregor Peart, according to advice received by the Air Department, Wellington. The citation states: "Flying-Offi-cer Peart is a keen, courageous fighter, having destroyed five enemy aircraft and damaged several more. He has taken part in a very large number of sorties and has set a fine example of devotion to duty throughout his operational career." Born in Nelson, Flying-Officer Peart attended the Hamilton Technical High School, where he played in the senior Rugby team. Before joining the R.N.Z.A.F. he was employed as a draughting cadet by tho Public Works Department at Tauranga for 13 months. His parents live at Raglan.
