"HUMAN TORPEDOES"

GERMAN TYPE CAPTURED

London, April 23

Four German "huroan torpedoes," which were launcheo Against targets on the shore in the Anzio beachhead, were captured by Allied forces after they had failed to do any damage, states the British United Press correspondent. Enemy E-boats released the torpedoes. Allied troops sighted a man's head and shoulders in a glass dome above the surface of the water near the shore. A German, as the torpedo reached the shore, knocked off the glass dome and crawled out. He explained that he had intended to use his torpedo against ships in Anzio Harbour, but ran out of fuel.

His torpedo, 12ft long and 21in in diameter, resembled one torpedo above another. The lower detachable one carried the charge.
