Christmas Holidays There will be no issue of the Bay of Plenty Times on Saturday, December 25 or Monday, December 27. National War Savings ; Last week 181 towns attained their quota of national war savings and in 17 of the 18 postal districts the full district quota was reached. Unusual Peach Tree A very unusual peach tree may be seen at Hotel Roslyn by anyone interested. Some six years ago a post, cut from a well-grown peach tree, sprouted, and is now a handsome young tree, carrying a dozen or more nearly ripe peaches. R.N.Z.A.F. Cricket The following members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force eleven, in Tauranga have been included in the Auckland R.N.Z.A.F. team to play the Wellington Air Force eleven ait Wellington on January 1 and 3: Corporal C. Yeatman? Corporal G. Lemin, Leading Aircraftman J. D. Hunter and A.C.2. R. M. McNally. Business Bx*isk There were a larger number of people in town yesterday than usual. All appeared to be shopping in earnest. Those shops with displays of Christmas goods were kept fairly busy. The difficulty appears to be that stocks of the various lines are hard to get, and in consequence the variety and quantity are not as great as one would expect for the Christmas season. Quite a number of farmers with their families from as far down the coast as Te Teko, Matata and Te Puke did their Christmas shopping yesterday. As Christmas Eve approaches, business should be very brisk.
