The following is a summary of the latest war news: — THE RUSSIAN FRONT
The Red Army is continuing to increase its pressure on the Dnieper front and lias inflicted- big losses on the German forces endeavouring to make their escape across the river.
They have captured an island iituated in the Dnieper only a quarter of a mile from the city of Kiev, and it is stated that the Red Air Force and the big guns of the ReilAnny are causing much havoc.
Good progress is also being made on the other fronts. THE ITALIAN FRONT
The Fifth and Eighth Armies in J'«ly .<re still sweeping on and the latest report indicates that Genfr«l Clark's forces are less than •2 miles from the city of Naples.
