INSPECTION OF HOME GUARD
As advertised in the Bay of Plenty Times, Major-General P. H. Bell, D. 5.0., will pay a visit to Tauranga to inspect and address the local battalion of the Home Guard on Friday, August 20. The time of the parade has been altered and the fall-in will now take place at 1 p.m. and the march past is timed for approximately 2.15 p.m. The Papakura Camp Band will be in attendance and prior to the march past will give a display on the Strand. This is a very fine band and will be well worth watching. An appeal has been made by advertisement to the public to billet the bandsmen, of whom - there are 32, and it is hoped that a ready response will be forthcoming from the generous public of Tauranga.
As it is desired that there will be a full muster on parade the Battalion Commander hopes that the business people will co-operate by allowing leave to as many as possible of their staff who are Home Guardsmen. No doubt those interested will take full advantage of this excellent opportunity of raising funds for patriotic purposes.
