LYCEUM CLUB
MARCH LUNCHEON
DR. FRAZERHURST THE SPEAKER
At the March luncheon of the Lyceum Club, the speaker was Dr. Frazerhurst, who was introduced to members by the president, Mrs A. W. Mouat . For his subject Dr. Frazerhurst chose life and customs in China, and gave a most interesting insight into both. As he had spent quite a few years in that country he had quite a number of first-hand stories with which to illustrate his talk which was very popular indeed. A display of Chinese jewellery and ornaments was most attractive and some Chinese gowns were paraded and much admired.
Mrs Mouat thanked Dr. Frazerhurst at the conclusion and asked him to take to Mrs Frazerhurst a posy of flowers with best wishes from Club members.
The attendance at the luncheon was very good, pleasure in thi? monthly fixture never waning, main-
ly owing to the splendid speakers the committee are fortunate enough to secure.
"At Home"
Last week the committee held an "At Home" and again members arrived to spend a very pleasant hour over tea cups and listening to a short programme arranged by Mrs F. W. Meikle.
Mrs Steele played a pianoforte solo, Mrs David Clark, Mrs M. P. Munro, and Mrs Shaw sang. Mrs Dickinson and Miss Pamela Bieleski recited, and to conclude the programme, Joy Fitch, Barbara de Lisle, Gwenda Tutchen and Vivien Green, danced some pretty little dances.
Mrs A. Hilford was invaluable as an accompaniste, and the programme went very smoothly.
The Reception Room where the afternoon was held looked very gay with big bowls of autumn flowers, and was delightfully cool.
