Fire in Rubbish Dump.
The Tauranga Volunteer Fire Brigade received a call shortly.after 9.30 last evening to a fire in the rubbish dump at the western end of Elizabeth Street. However, the outbreak was not serious and it was soon got under control.
Fast Shearing
What may well he a record performance in shearing in the Waikato was put up by Messrs. J. Portland, of Waharoa, and J. Felts, of Mowinsville. At Putaruru on Mr L. Maher’s Cleverness Estate, 633 Romney ewes were put through in 8i hours. Mr Portland put through 331 ewes and Mr Felts 302. All the sheep shorn were caught by the' shearers.
