NEW TUNIC

WOMAN’S DESIGN APPROVED Mrs Marianne Seeman, of Mosman, has a new design for the A.I.F. uniform. She claims it is healthier, smarter, and will save one yard of material per man. Soldiers who have tried it praise it highly, says the. Sydney Sun. Two A.I.F. sergeants, both recently returned from the Middle East, who tried on the tunic, disclaimed any knowledge of the amount of material used, but heartily agreed that the tunic was smarter and infinitely more comfortable than their present uniform.

Sgt. William C. Tidyman, of Sydney: “It’s the sleeve that makes the difference. You can lift your arms right over your head without dragging the tunic out of place. It fits better around the waist ,too. Twice as comfortable as the present turnout,”

Sgt. Warren Hughs, of Lindfield; “You could go into a scrap in this tunic and really fling your weight about. It gives you greater freedom of movement without being sloppy. I’d swop mine for it any day.”

MrS Seeman’s A.I.F. tunic is made in one piece instead of eight pieces, as is the present style. It has no shoulder seam, no armhole, no side seam.

Mrs Seemau took the tunic to Victoria Barracks where the quartermaster and several other officers who tried it on were enthusiastic about it.
