HOME LEAGUE

The last Home League meeting for this year was held on December 2, and was well attended. The meeting was "opened with the singing of "God Defend New Zealand,"" Mrs Marshall following with prayer. The hymn "He Leadeth Me," was sung by all present. The scripture lesson was read by Mrs Tonkin. The word "strength" was used in answer to the roll call. Mrs McDonald warmly welcomed the visitors and wished them a pleasant time. A happy social hour followed, the items being as follow: Songs, Mrs A. Griffiths, "I'll Walk Beside You" and "Perfect Day"; Mrs Tonkin, "Love's Old Sweet Song" and "Hawaiian Farewell"; and Master Rex Griffiths sang two songs. Mrs Silvester read a poem, "Your Father Knoweth." There were two competitions, these being won by Mesdames Norris and Silvester. The meeting was closed with the singing of the hymn "Happy the Home," and a prayer. Flowers in shades of pink, orange and gold were neatly arranged, giving a pretty effect to the appearance of the hall. During the afternoon Mrs McDonald and Mrs Marshall were presented with lovely bouquets. Afternoon tea was served under the direction of Miss Roper, ably assisted by several of (he members. While the refreshments were being served members of the "Thrift Club" were presented with envelopes containing their thrift money.
