FARMERS' UNION

WOMEN'S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Women's Division of the New Zealand .Farmers' Union was held recently and was opened by the president (Mrs Meharry) reading the league prayer, members reciting the women's creed. Mrs Meharry, who had attended the inter-provincial meeting of the North Island branch in Hamilton, gave a very interesting report. Arrangements were made for the birthday party next month. Twelve knitted articles were brought in for the righting forces. The hostesses, Mesdames Eellis and Poole, served an enjoyagle luncheon. The roll call, "An animal or bird call," caused praise and much amusement, being answered by all members. An interesting article was read on home spinning from the fleece, and the knitting of the wool into garments for the Navy, which had been done by a family living near Hawera. The competitions resulted as "follow: Wandering shilling, Mrs McGill; posy, Mrs Johnston 1, Mrs Poole 2; large bloom, Mrs Johnston 1, Mrs Poole 2; small bloom, Mrs Poole 1, Mrs Johnston 2.
