STRIKE AT THE HEART
MR XASH OX WAR
Berlin Most Important
The Pacific Front
London. Oct. IS
Speaking at Boston. Mr Walter Nash, New Zealand's Minister at Washington, .said that however vital the Pacific might be the prime objective was to strike at the heart of the Axis powers and. said Mr Nash, that heart is in Berlin.
It would be utter madness to regard the Pacific war as a sideshow. To defeat Germany unless we also defeated Japan would leave us in an impossible position. This was stated by Mr Keith Officer, former Charge d'Affaires for Australia in Tokio, who has returned to Canberra after the exchange with Japanese diplomats. Mr Officer said an encouraging impression he had gained was that the native populations of Japanese-occupied countries were not greatly impressed by Japanese propaganda that they were coming as deliverers.
