a credit balance in the bank on September 21 of £2l 19s Td. The ex-
penditure was made up of furniture and equipment £47 12s 2d, stationery £4 16s 2d. provisions £73 9s Id. and sundry expenses £ls 6s 9d.
Mrs Wilkinson moved that the balance-sheet be adopted and that a vote of thanks be accorded to those in charge of the catering arrangements. whose caretul supervision had made the club rooms a paying proposition.
This was seconded by Miss Cook and carried. Election of Officers
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President, Mrs Wilkinson: secretary, Mrs Doherty; treasurer. Mrs Crawford; hon. auditor, Mr A. J. Gallagher; committee, Mesdames Wilkinson, Doherty. Maltby, Poynter, Crawford, Cunningham, Mann, Wylde-Brown. Budd, Hazzard, Faulkner, Carswell, Ross Clark, West, Wright, McCullay, Thompson, Neville, Fulton, Misses Hardy, Christian and Cooney. Mrs Wilkinson expressed her thanks for being elected to the office of president and said she would do her best in that position. •
Mr Robbins declared the meeting open for discussion and congratulated the committee on the large attendance. He referred to the good work that had beer, done by the committee during tim past year.
The Rev 0. S. 0. Gibson spoke highly of the club’s activities and wished it a bright future. He said that no doubt th.e influence of the club upon the men was -splendid. It was a place where they coulfl spend an enjoyable hour. Lieut.-Colonel J. R. Eongard also congratulated the committee and staff upon the excellent work they were doing for the men. He said the good behaviour of the troops while in Tauranga was mainly due to the influence of the Fighting Forces Club.
Flying-Officer Temple spoke on behalf of Squadron-Leader Kirkup, who he said wished to thank the committee and staff for its entertainment of the Air Force personnel when on leave. Mrs Wilkinson remarked that she thought the good conduct of the troops at the rooms was due to the way the men had responded to the example set by the hostesses and staff. She also wished to thank the girls for their loyal support.- It helped the committee to make the rooms such a success.
Mrs Wilkinson then made a presentation of a supper set to Miss Cook, who is leaving the district to be married. The committee hoped she would like the gift and expressed its appreciation of her work as secretary. Miss Cook, in reply, thanked the committee for its kind thoughts. Afternoon tea was served in the club rooms, which looked gay and fresh with beautiful bowls of spring flowers. Among the members of the armed forces present were SergeantMajor Carswell and Sergeant Flemming.
