REPRESENTATIVE COMMITTEE
SUB-COMMITTEE FORMED
APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE
The recently formed sub-commit-tee set up by the Women's Representative Committee at the request of the N.Z. Institute for the Blind met recently. The following ladies were present. Mrs Flower, convenor, in the chair, Mesdames Tonkin, Glacken. McGill, Wilkinson and R. McNa ugh ton.
It was reported that at the last meeting of the Women's Representative Committee a sub-committee of three had been appointed— Mesdames Mouat, Flower and R. McNaughton—with the suggestion that certain organisations be invited to send representatives to a later meeting. Four of these organisations were not represented, but three had signified willingness to attend. It was stated that the function of the sub-committee would be to act as a liaison between the institute in Auckland and the Tauranga district. It was decided that Mrs R. McNaughton act as secretary for this branch of the work. The question of meeting the appeal for financial assistance was discussed at length and it was finally decided that in view of the fact that so many functions were to be held between now and Christmas and that war work of various kinds was claiming the time and attention of so many workers, organisations be circularised and asked to make contributions by direct giving. It was further suggested that Mr S. G. Willcock he approached to contact the men's organisation. The committee was of the opinion that the appeal, being such a worthy one, would meet with a ready response.
