REVENUE OVER £1,000,000

RAILWAY RECORD FOR MAY Details of railway revenue and expenditure for May were announced by the Minister of Railways, the Hon. R. Semple. He said that revenue earned by the Railway Department totalled £1,051,313, an increase of £136,987 (14.98 per cent) over that for May of last year. The outstanding feature was that for the first time in the history of the department the revenue exceeded £1,000,000 in the May period. The net revenue for the 53 days of the current year was £406,651, and it exceeded that earned for the first 54 days of last year by £107,519, or 35.94 per cent.
