Lieutenant-Colonel Keyes has been posthumously awarded the \.l . 101 Ins gallant attempt to raid the headquarters of the German commander in Libya last December. Colonel Keyes hammered on the door of tin' house in which the commander was quartered and demanded admission. He had to kill the sentry and the shot aroused the inmates of (lie house. Colonel Keyes rushed a dooi inside the house and when be opened it he was shot and mortally wounded. He went to almost certain dent a when he undertook his task, which was carried out in a spirit of supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty. Lieutenant Colonel Keyes was a son of Admiral of the Fleet.
