A Light Warden’s Meeting
A Christchurch warden, on his evening rounds, passed the pavilion of the Canterbury Bowling Club to find it well-lighted inside and out and with totally inadequate precautions taken. He hurried in, knocked at the door, and greatly to his surprise found he had interrupted a meeting of light wardens. The patrol warden told a reporter later In the evening that for a minute he was too astonished to speak; but once he recovered he ‘‘gave it to them good and hard” and told them they should be ashamed of themselves. “There were lights everywhere.” he said.
