WOMEN’S DIVISION
PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Tauranga Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in the Presbyterian Hall on May 1. The following delegates were present: Mesdames Meharry, McGill, Gibb and Johnson (Tauranga), Vince and Smith (Katikati), Strugnell, Foster and Griffiths (Omokoroa), Singleton and Barrow (Te Puke), I’Anson, King and Taylor (Te Puna), Hickson, Benner, Cawle and Milsom (Pongakawa), Vesey, H. Merriman, and Miss Ferguson (Pye’s Pa). Te Matai was unable to send delegates. In the absence of Mrs McKenna (president), Mrs I’Anson (vicepresident) was voted to the chair. Apologies were received from Mesdames Woolsey. Gilmour and Cabett.
Mrs McKenna's resignation was received with regret and her excellent services to the Division recorded. After the financial statement had been passed, Mrs McKenna's president’s and housekeeper’s reports were read and adopted on the motion of Mrs Johnson, seconded by Mrs Taylor.
Luncheon was then served by Mesdames Searle and McCullough, after which Mrs Vesey proposed a vote of thanks to the fi'auranga ladies for their hospitality. Mrs Griffiths expressed thanks to the Tauranga branch, which had provided refreshments for the provincial quarterly meetings throughout the year. It was decided to support the Waikato and Wairarapa Provincials’ proposals regarding the liquor laws. Mrs Strugnell gave a report of the recent Farmers’ Union meeting. The following officers were appointed for the coming year: President, Mrs Meharry; vice-presidents, Mrs I’Anson and Mrs Griffiths; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs F. E. Foster; housekeeping secretary, Mrs Meharryt vice-president ex officio, Mrs McKenna; committee, Mesdames Vince, Bragg , King, Milsom, Singleton, Vesey, Gibb . delegates to Farmers’ Union, Mesdames Johnson and Strugnell; delegates to Representa-
tive Committee, Mesdames Gibb and King. Mrs Meharry was given a hearty vote of thanks for her work as honorary secretary, a post which she has held for some years.
