"The, Trial of Mary Dugan" brought a new romantic team and plenty of excitement to the screen when it opened yesterday at the Recent Theatre. The acting duo is composed of Robert Young and Laraine Bay. And the excitement came in romance, comedy and drama of : rare cinematic quality. In the title role, Miss Bay has the fullest dramatic role of her career and her per- | formance justifies her recently ac- i quired title as "the outstanding | young actress of 1940." Playing op- ) posite her. Young gives another j faultless performance as the young lawyer who must depend upon his j hitherto untried legal skill to save [ his sweetheart from a death sen- j tence. •
