Many People Travelling Indications are that there, will be hiiany people travelling during Labour week-end, advice having been received that accommodation in all trains running between Auckland a.nd Wellington, both ways, on Friday has been booked. Special trains have been arranged. Admissions to Hospital There were 89 admissions to the Tauranga Hospital last month, the. average number of occupied beds' being 50.1. There were 51 patients in hospital at the end of the month. The operations performed during the. month, numbered 30 and there were three deaths. Reporting to the Hospital Board at its, monthly meeting yesterday the Medical Superintendent (Dr J. Mark) stated that there had been a good many cases of measles. Boisterous Weather. A boisterous wind with heavy gusts from the west prevailed yesterday. Hail fell in some parts of town. The weather still appears to be unsettled and further showers are likely. Gifts, to Hospital In her report to the Tauranga Hospital Board at its monthly meeting yesterday the Matron (Miss Jenkins) expressed appreciation to the following for gifts to the hospital: Flowers. Mesdames Moore, Clinch and Still, Mr McPherson; magazines, Mrs Woods, Mr Hyde, Mr O'Hara, Major Scantlebury; lemons, Mrs Phillips; tree tomatoes, Mr Brinkley. The matron also expressed thanks to an unknown person who made a gift of two sacks of lemons, and to the Happiness Club for making and presenting two adult dressing gowns. Labour Day The post office will be closed in all branches including the telegraph branch on Monday next, Labour Day. The telephone exchange will be open continuously. Outward mails for principal offices will be despatched and will close at the following times: Street receivers, 7 a.m.; main post office, 7.30 a.m. Inward mails will not be sorted. Trees on Cameron Road. Appreciation of the action of the Tauranga Borough Council in filling in the gaps in the puriri trees on Cameron Road was expressed at the monthly meeting of the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday evening. Mr A. E. Peppercorn commented that it was very pleasing to see that the trees had been planted. Visit to Kauri Forests. The Tauranga Chamber of Commerce has arranged an outing to the Katikati kauri forests for Monday next. The conveyance will leave Coronation Pier at 9 a.m. and any of those fond of tramping are invited to participate in the excursion which should be full of interest.
