FAREWELL DANCE

FUNCTION AT TAURIKO

A farewell dance was held in the Tauriko Hall recently to bid God speed to two very popular boys of the district, Private Ivan Wade and Private Ernest Denver.

The hall was well filled and dancing commenced about S o’clock, the Morine orchestra playing the music. About 10.30, after everyone had enjoyed a good supper, Mr K. Walton spoke of the high esteem both boys were held in the district. Mr Walton then presented them with a belt and substantial cheque. A visiting soldier, Private Don. Reid, receiving a parcel of cigarettes.

All boys suitably replied. After the singing of “For They are Jolly Good Fellows,” dancing was continued until midnight, the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem bringing a pleasant evening to a close.
