JUNIOR TEAM TO PLAY FOR SHALFOON TROPHY

The Management Committee of the Tauranga Rugby Union held its weekly meeting on Monday night. Mr Gordon Fisher presided and there was a full attendance of members who expressed keen satisfaction with the Tauranga representative team winning the Te Hurinui-Apanui football challenge shield on Saturday last from Opotiki. The acceptance of the Rangitaiki challenge to play for the shield on Saturday next on the Domain was discussed and details in connection with this match were completed. The action of the president and secretary in getting out posters and arranging for broadcasting announcements was approved. The Railway Department is putting on a special train which will leave Te Puke at 12.40 p.m. on Saturday for the convenience of people from that district and intermediate centres who desire to witness the contest. The fares will he at excursion rates.

Messrs C. Tutchen and H. Gaulton were appointed managers of the Tauranga team. Messrs T. Bartlett, J. Armstrong, J. Proctor, C. Hardy and J. A. Guinness were appointed gatekeepers.

It was decided to alter the cur-tain-raiser which will now take the form of a match between High School and Cadets. The Taiu'aiiga Team

Owing to the importance of the match it was decided to impress on players the importance of keeping fit. Shalfoon Shield The junior fixture for the Shalfoon Shield to be played at Rotorua on Saturday was further considered. The following team was submitted

Messrs T. Milne and W. Johnston were appointed managers. The team will leave Tauranga at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
