TO DISBAND FOR DURATION

TE PUKE RUGBY UNION DECISION OF ANNUAL MEETING There was a poor attendance at the annual meeting of the Te Puke Rugby Union held in Mr J. T. Eccleton’s office. Mr A. E. Spratt in his annual report stated that the last season was one to be proud of, considering the difficulties under which football was played. The Senior Representatives had played nine matches, winning 4, losing 4, and drawing 1. The Juniors played 4 rep. games, winning 2 and losing 2, so the honours were even for the season. From a financial point of view, stated Mr Spratt, the season was also very good. The Union had donated over £3O to different Patriotic Committees in the district and had still left a substantial balance in the Players’ Insurance Fund. Mr Spratt congratulated Messrs Goosman, Mitchell, Maimona, Ruebe, and Valder for attaining Bay of Plenty Representative honours last season. Mr Spratt also congratulated Paengaroa seniors and Old Boys juniors for winning their respective competitions last season and the generous donation of the shield presented for junior competition by Mr A. J. Collins was appreciated by the players as well as the Rugby Union. A general discussion took place regarding prospect's for the coming season. It was decided that, as Te Puke had sent a large proportion of its players overseas and still more were to follow, the Union disband ’until such time as the Football Clubs can field teams. At the present time only two junior teams were likely to take the field, namely Rangiuru and Old Boys. Messrs B. J. Joyce and E, R. Bartram were appointed trustees for all Rugby Union affairs. » , The Rugby Union has offered every assistance possible to any' club or players who would like to play friendly games and it is hoped that players will avail themselves of this offer.
